Competition dancers

The Mason Dance Center Competition Dancers are students who are enthusiastic and committed to learning to dance in a professional environment and who want to perform and compete beyond the annual recital. Of course dance technique and performance quality will factor heavily into placement but our approximate ages for our 2012-13 groupings are-
 

Our Competition Dancers must have a good attendance record, be enrolled in ballet class in addition to other dance forms and show a willingness to work hard to improve their technique. They must be devoted to making dance a priority in their lives.  They must also be willing to participate in fundraisers or extra commitments and costs and have the full support of their parents or guardians.

Auditions are held in late May/early June each year.  Prior to auditioning we recommend that students are taking at least 3 classes per week; preferably jazz, tap and ballet. With a minimum time commitment of 3 hrs of dancing per week for even our Jr. Team, the jump to that from only 1 class per week can be overwhelming. 

Competition parents are asked to participate in the MDC Parents Association.  This parents group holds monthly meetings to plan fundraisers and to promote camaraderie and team spirit.  As a Competition parent, we also welcome you to join our private Facebook group to stay informed on all that we are doing.
